What Is AI Commentary?
AI Commentary is a new feature in TheLineCricket that writes ball-by-ball match descriptions automatically as you score. Every delivery gets:
- A headline — “FOUR!”, “WICKET!”, “Dot ball”, “SIX over mid-wicket!”
- A detailed line — “Cracked through covers with a classic cover drive”
- Context-aware commentary — milestone celebrations, pressure moments, over summaries
All of it happens the moment you tap the scoring pad. No typing, no manual input.
How It Works
When the scorer records a ball, our engine considers:
- The delivery type — dot, single, boundary, six, wicket, wide, no-ball
- The match context — current score, over number, partnership, pressure
- The batsman’s innings — approaching 50? Been defending for a while? Just hit a boundary?
- The bowler’s spell — first over, death overs, maiden over in progress
Then it picks from 100+ unique phrases designed specifically for cricket. No repetition, no generic text — every ball feels written.
Real Examples
Here’s commentary from a recent T20 match scored on the app:
14.2 — FOUR! Cracked through covers! Sharma times it beautifully off the front foot.
14.3 — Single, rotated strike. Tapped into the gap at mid-on. Smart cricket.
14.4 — SIX! Launched over long-on! Massive strike from Sharma — the crowd goes wild.
14.5 — WICKET! Bowled him! Clean yorker, no answer to that. Sharma departs for 56.
